Hello and welcome to L7CBN. My name is Carrie Billington and I am one of the tutors for Lion House, ROAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I am a teacher of English with other degree qualifications in Music and Drama and including this year I have been teaching for four years. In my teaching career, I have experienced working in two schools and Passmores is by far THE BEST! The energy and commitment that appears at the top, filters down through both staff and students is rewarded by creating a family environment resulting in fantastic achievements all round.

 

I gain a huge amount of satisfaction and enjoyment being a tutor as it allows me to gain an area of knowledge on the pupils which is more about themselves than what they are achieving academically. I am able to understand what interests the pupils outside of school. Having this knowledge enables me to encourage positive pupil progress throughout the school and vertical tutor groups, which we have initiated this September, allows this to be more accessible.

 

So far L7CBN has had a constructive beginning to the new school year, which on the whole has been very encouraging. With the range of year groups in L7CBN, the pupils have found it useful, gaining knowledge from older pupils who they have got to know and now find more approachable. The mentoring system that the school has in place, assists with this and on the whole I am impressed by their participation and motivation. The group is a real mixed bunch of ‘lion cubs’ with lots of different interests and talents such as drummers, rugby captains, Scouts, future actors and impressive authors.

 

We, as a whole are determined to help Lion win the house cup this year!!!!!

 

Outside of school, I enjoy a wide range of activities such as running, swimming, watching plays and concerts and travelling. However my main interest is Music and has been from a very young child. I play the piano, flute, guitar and sing and I’m currently working on my skills as a drummer, as well as teaching Piano peripatetically. I also enjoy mixing with friends and family.
